I guess I was basically trying to point out that there was common ground to be found between myself and someone whom I regularly disagree with. If the r-word cause was really important to her, she probably would not have used it as a weapon to attack one of her enemies with. To be clear, I am not a Sarah Palin fan. Thanks for the comment Bill.

Palin is nothing more than an opportunist. I agree with the comments prior to mine - she is a hypocrite. No doubt about it.

@Pam - I agree with you on most everything you have said. It's disappointing that Palin's stance on the r-word only went as far as her political allegiances. If it's wrong to use the word as a Democrat, then it is wrong to use it as a Republican. It's a human issue. I have equal distaste for those who believe that human ethical issues apply to others in a different way than they apply to themselves and their friends. Thanks for the comment!

Zac, I agree that the "r" word is in the same cateogry as the "n" word and its use should not be tolerated. Rahm Emanuel was wrong to use this term and he has apologized. However, Palin's outcry over Rahm's use of this word was clearly politically motivated. Palin had previously called for Rahm's removal and she eagerly pounced on his inappropriate comment to support her position. She is a hypocrite. She has continued to defend Rush Limbaugh's use of the same word to describe a group of liberals. Why is it okay with Palin for Limbaugh to refer to a group of liberal activists as a "retard" summit? I actually thought his use was even more offensive. So, although I agree with the message of your blog entry, I am offended at Palin's hypocrisy and clear political motivation for raising this issue.
